I've been busy lately changing a few things in my kitchen. Nothing too major. I started by changing what i had up above my cabinets. This has always been a hard area for me to decorate. Previously I had lots of different sized white pitchers, but wanted to simplify a little. I also wanted to add a darker color to the mix and went with wicker baskets and wicker covered glass jugs along with a couple wood boxes.
I also replaced the table that we used as an island with a smaller one and I added a new shelf filled with white pitchers above one of my cupboards. I'd really like to strip this cupboard down to the original wood, since it is a yellowish cream color right now, but it's so much work....maybe it'll get done this Summer:-)
This last photo is showing an area into my dining room which is next on the list to be redone. Not too much more to do in there and I'm really liking all the architectural pieces I've accumulated . Hope you enjoyed touring my kitchen! xoxo K.
What a pretty kitchen, Kathleen. It looks so big. I love all the white and your bead board cabinets.
ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen. Tops of cupboards are one of the hardest places to decorate. We have an "L" shaped kitchen, with overheads on both sides, but I only have things on the longest side. The short side doesn't look right no matter what I put up there. I really like the style of the cupboard doors you have.

I enjoyed your tour very much. I love your wooden countertops and your table that you use as an island. I really like your farmhouse sink and the open cupboard with your collection of white pitchers. We hope to do a kitchen redo in a year or so, and I've gotten some wonderful ideas from your kitchen.

Hi Kathleen! You have such a wonderful kitchen, so spacious and such a great place for displaying all your gorgeous "whites". Love the texture that the wicker and the crate on the island bring in. Have a great weekend!!

I love what you have done. I agree that decorating above kitchen cabinets is so hard. I have pretty much cleared mine off completely. I am trying to tell myself that simpler is better. At least it's easier to clean.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT! I think my favorite is the wood countertop...I've had wood before but can't remember why I don't in this house...it is on the list though...very farmhous-ey!

Your beautiful kitchen just makes me want to get busy doing something with mine, but it's too small. I love how open yours is with so many vintage touches, and of course the white. Kitchens aren't usually as pretty as the rest of the house. But yours certainly is.
ReplyDeleteLovely and inviting! Have a fabulous Friday. :) Tammy
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is so beautiful, would be lovely to bake in here :)
ReplyDeleteBee happy x

ReplyDeleteYour kitchen looks pretty darn good to me. Love the way it's laid out and you've put every square inch to good use without a lot of clutter...just well loved things. Love it!

Wow! Your kitchen is soooo lovely! As I was enjoying the photos, I was already thinking...what can I do to give my kitchen a similar feel? It is calming, beautiful, and a wonderful blend of earthiness, with the elegance of white, and your delightful collection of white wares and vintage yumminess makes it sooo cozy and welcoming.
ReplyDeleteLovely balance! We are finishing a makeover on my daughter's room, then I am repainting our guest bathroom, and then I might be able to get to the kitchen!!
Thanks for sharing! I feel inspired!!
Have a wonderful weekend!!

I LOVE your kitchen and everything in it. My house, when I bought it after my divorce 11 years ago needed work, but I knew it had a lot of potential. My son and I have worked on a lot of things, but the kitchen is still in the "hold" pattern! And as you know, I LOVE architectural pieces, and yours are the best.
ReplyDeleteTake care, Sue
Kathleen I love the remodeling, So open and clean. I wish I would have chosen lighter tiles when we remodeled.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Ciao Rita mammabellarte

ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is beautiful, I love the island table and your collection of white pitchers. Thank you so much for the tour!
ReplyDeleteox~Cathleen
Wow, it's gorgeous! I love that cupboard that you want to take down to the original wood, it's wonderful as is but I bet it would be awesome in its original state.
ReplyDeleteI love architectural pieces and have just started collecting some. I have a pair of very heavy solid oak (dark-ish wood) columns I got from Miss Mustard Seed that remind me of the ones seen in your pic #5. I've got them standing on my fireplace hearth, but your pic has given me inspiration to use them as interesting plant stands! I'll have to put them up high to keep the kitties away!
Best,
Kimberly
very nice and cozy, love it!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Kathleen
ReplyDeleteLove the architectural elements you used in here, it all looks so welcoming and beautiful.
Next time I am in town I'll stop in for a cup :)
Have a great week
Blessings
Rebecca

ReplyDeleteI love your kitchen and all your photos. Thanks for the inspiration as I am doing my own kitchen makeover. I need all the help I can find. Many Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSo many people do not like white kitchens, I love them. Yours looks so crisp and clean exactly the way I like them.
ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen! Your kitchen is GORGEOUS!!
ReplyDeleteWe are in the process of redoing our counter tops to the butcher block. May I ask you a few questions? Waterloks was the recommended treatment for them, but I am nervous about getting an undermount, and/or an apron sink due to water effects. What's your experience thus far? Anything you'd do differently??
Thank you!! And again... GORGEOUS!!! Truly!! :)
